Overweight? Blame the Internet.

This study found only an association between weight and computer use. “Is it that you become overweight because you use the Internet a lot, or is it that overweight people simply use the Internet more?” says Corneel Vandelanotte, PhD, postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute for Health and Social Science Research at Central Queensland University. It’s hard to say. But one likely explanation, she adds, is that “people who use the Internet a lot also engage more in other sedentary behaviors, and that is likely the main cause of their being more likely to be overweight.”

Really? So you mean that by spending all my time in front of a computer rather than going outside for a walk or just doing something in general can make me fat? Wow.

Customer Service?

I’ve just gotten off the phone with a store that I patronized on Black Friday. They double charged my debit card because the first time I ran it they got some sort of a system error and they ran it again. I called this morning to tell them that they double charged me and I would like a refund. They informed me that I need to come in to their store to receive my $20 refund. I have informed them that this is impossible because of two reasons - 1) I live 3 hours away and 2) it would cost me more than $20 in gas to drive down there.

I asked to speak to a manager who informed me that there is not a whole lot she can do for me. She gave me a different 1-800 number to call to report my “complaint”. I’ve left a message on someone’s voicemail explaining my frustrations. Let’s see how this pans out…

Thinking about a new vehicle

I’m looking for a different vehicle. I would like something with AWD/4x4. So far I’m thinking either a Ford Escape, Jeep Liberty, or Saturn Vue. Any suggestions or opinions?

…the Wegener Family (which I’m now a part of) 2010 family vacation will be in the Poconos in Pennsylvania.

You decided in only one day? My family is still trying to figure out where we are going to have the next family reunion…Some of them are apparently against votes because the youngens aka people my age are starting to outnumber the others…

well this has been in the works for a few months now. we each had to bring an idea as a couple to our Thanksgiving Saturday celebration and we took a group vote on it. A close second was Michael’s idea which was to rent a cabin on Mullet Lake near Cheboygan and spend a week up there.

For all us veggies out there on Thanksgiving. The only one I’ve actually had is the Quorn brand and it was awesome. Not so good for vegans though… This was published by the American Dietetic Association. The end result - other than sodium, fake turkey is a little bit healthier than real turkey!
